The set design for ‘SINGULARITY' consists of 6 individual forms, of which three are ‘positive' elements representing a platform each, whilst the other three are ‘negative' expressions of space, representing empty voids.

In the beginning every singular form serves as a separate stage for an individual dancer, who will be watched from close range by an audience which is allowed to move freely through the performance space between
the individual stages.

Later in the performance the six initial forms start to gravitate towards each other, to meet at the centre of the performance space where they engage to form a new and much larger entity of different spatial characteristics.

By employing the use of positive and negative spaces the stage set has all functional characteristics of a traditional ‘frontal stage and side curtain' arrangement whilst being continuously exposed in the centre of the actual performance space.
